Behavioral targeting is the act of basing future advertisements to a customer or prospect upon demographics and past web surfing habits that indicate what a person likes. As a person surfs more and demonstrates preferences for one thing over another, information becomes more refined, leading to future advertisements that may more closely align with what a person is truly looking for.
Say, for example, you did a search for "wine" on Google, then went onto the wine research site, WineSpectator.com to look up the ratings and characteristics of top vintages of wine from Chile. With the aid of behavioral targeting software behind the scenes, an advertiser can ensure that what you see upon your return to the site will be more narrow and specific to your interests, in this case, vintage wines from Chile...
Judging by their efforts to lure homeschooling families into dependence on local school districts, the answer is apparently yes.
For the last several years, homeschooling has been the fastest growing educational alternative in the country. Estimates of its growth rate typically range from 15-25% annually. While homeschoolers are notoriously difficult to count, the National Homeschooling Research Institute believes that currently 2.5 million American children are homeschooled today. This adds up to about 5% of America's 52 million K-12 students.
The sheer number of homeschoolers represent a distinct threat to the hegemony of the government school monopoly...
The term "homeschooling" is a bit of a misnomer. To many people, the word conjures up a vision of mothers instructing their children around the kitchen table — a myth perpetuated by the media who invariably demand this particular image to accompany their stories.
The reality is far different. While instruction around the kitchen table does indeed occur in most homeschooling families, the flexibility and range of homeschooling encourages an enormous variety of alternative educational models. These models range from child-led, interest-based learning (unschooling) to the traditional, classroom model with professional teachers...

Technical Programmers & Designers
In the world of high-tech, hundreds of thousands of independent technicians and graphic designers run their own small businesses or work for larger companies. Most already have degrees in their chosen field, while others are expanding their careers to include work on high-tech web projects.
Widespread use of the Internet and other interactive connectivity technologies for learning are creating an interactive learning environment and robust communication system for our young people today. E-learning in the new century can support instructor-led training where the participants can be hundreds of miles away from each other. E-learning can employ graphical simulations of difficult concepts to enhance understanding using technologies such as flash, streaming audio and video. E-learning can individualize training to a student's desired learning styles. These technologies are making it possible to achieve badly needed changes in the United States educational system, but there is much work to be done. In a thoughtful and progressive work by Jon Wiles and John Lundt, "Leaving School: Finding Education", the authors call for a major paradigm shift in the US public education system.
Small companies do better than mid- or large- cap companies in the long run. They can run up ten times in value in three to five years. All this is possible because the companies are usually more nimble due to their smaller size and limited bureaucracy. They have management teams who frequently own large stakes and are entrepreneurial in the way they think. Many companies are too small to even get onto the radar screen of larger institutional investors, so these companies tend to stay hidden longer.
What about risk? Generally, you expect to be rewarded more for taking greater risks. However, to jump into a stock on a hot tip is not taking a calculated risk — that's gambling. You minimize your risks by looking for companies that are fundamentally sound. You maximize your chances of finding a solid outperformer by analyzing the management team and the company's intrinsic value. Let's look at some techniques that you can follow to be successful in small-cap investing.
Companies that have a sharp focus on the "real" market for e-learning — that
is, the market for continuing education, skill-building and job retraining —
will experience solid growth for at least the next three to five years. However,
investors that have their money on the biggest players in the industry may be in
for an unpleasant surprise.
This is because there are lucrative niche opportunities available to the nano-caps
that the larger-cap stocks simply can't get involved in. These smaller niches are not
profitable enough for them. As a result, a nano-cap can triple and quadruple
its market size in the same time period that a larger-cap stock takes to grow 20%.
The delivery of information is now advancing at an
unprecedented rate. With the advent of the Internet and advanced digital
technology, direct access to all forms of knowledge on a worldwide basis is
now a reality. Furthermore,
information that was previously limited to text and photo images has come
alive through streaming audio, video and flash animation. This reality is now
transforming every segment in the field of education, so much so that long-held
education standards are being shaken to their core. For example, every year
another one million families opt for home-schooling, directly assisted by Internet
technology.
Social evolution must begin with objective truth. Lifting the veil of false notions about life, living and the human condition must be the very first step. Personal empowerment - the ability and the will to take positive action fueled by truly unbiased information - should be the foundation for social progress in all areas such as health & safety, moral ethics, spiritual awareness, relationships, parenting, education, entertainment, housing, science, government, environment and economics. It's really about the concurrent personal evolution of many individuals, and its resulting effect on society as a whole. And it's certainly about learning, especially from our past mistakes.

There is a growing dissatisfaction with some public schools, and the negative influences are a growing concern. The cost and time involved in supplying and transporting students is also a major factor. And many students who need special attention will often fall between the cracks. On the positive side, the Internet and pre-recorded video instruction provide a strong foundation for serious and committed parents.
